The Redmond Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations.
We are a part of the Redmond Citizen Corps Council, a 501(c)3 that brings together local leaders, citizen volunteers, and first responder organizations to create a more prepared community.
Redmond CERT Vision
To empower people to support their families and neighbors in case of emergencies and disasters, educate the general population in basic emergency preparedness, establish community-based support within Fire District 34, and extend the reach of first responders by supporting the Redmond Office of Emergency Management or other jurisdictions as requested.
Redmond CERT Mission Statement
Redmond CERT recognizes that disasters can and do happen and that people want to be able to help take care of their families and neighbors during that critical period before outside help can arrive.
To do this the Redmond CERT program trains neighborhood and community-based volunteer teams in the following:
- Personal preparedness: helping people prepare themselves and their family for possible emergency situations.
- How to SAFELY assist others: to be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people while remaining constantly aware of rescuer safety and the limits of their training.
- How to SAFELY assist emergency personnel: to support emergency personnel upon their arrival and request.
